About

Participants will explore the mobility and openness of the chest and the area around the heart, discovering how these qualities influence our physical presence and the way we move.

Through playful and guided explorations – moving from centre to periphery, softly folding and spiralling around the heart – participants will be invited to sense the heart from within and experience how it shapes expression and connection.

About Helene Cathala

Hélène Cathala danced with Dominique Bagouet and Trisha Brown from 1989 to 1992. In 1993 she co-founded “La Camionetta” dance company with Fabrice Ramalingom, and created ten dance pieces. She then initiated “Changement de Propriétaire”, an artists’ collective, working around research and experimentation in Montpellier.

Since 2004, she has engaged herself in a solo career, questioning the worlds of dance, theatre and literature, developing both teaching opportunities and creations in which she confirms her attention to form and stage composition, in a spirit of rigour and conviction.

She is now an instructor for the dance teachers programme elaborated by the French Ministry of Culture.

This event is part of a series presented with Humanarium, RCSI’s new public space at St Stephen’s Green. In response to the inaugural exhibition Heart: more than a beat, the programme explores heart health through movement and embodied awareness.
