About

Led by dance artist Katherine O’Malley, the workshop draws on over 30 years of contemporary dance, yoga and somatic practice. It focuses on restoring strength, balance and flexibility, while encouraging bonding through touch, rocking, stretching and playful movement. Working in seated and floor-based positions alongside baby, participants are guided to move with ease and awareness, supporting heart health, improving circulation and reducing stress.

The session fosters healthy, creative and safe play, encouraging parents to adapt movements to suit their own needs while nurturing their baby’s growth and wellbeing. Rooted in community, it supports parents as they navigate this transformative time, creating a relaxed and welcoming environment where parent and baby can move, rest and play together.

About Katherine O’Malley

Katherine O'Malley is a multidisciplinary dance artist, educator, choreographer, and mother. Her approach and diverse expertise is informed by her own journey and study of contemporary dance practices, yoga, pilates and somatic practices. She also draws from her experience as a breath coach and as an Amatsu Orthopath – a Japanese natural healing and movement philosophy. Her distinguished performance career spans over three decades, encompassing contemporary dance, ballet, opera, theatre, and film.

Katherine’s work is deeply rooted in embodied experience. She explores the intersections of physical identity and embodied cognition, examining how we understand ourselves and our needs as both autonomous individuals and social beings.

During her 2021–2023 residency at VISUAL Carlow, she developed Meet Mind Move Play. Through this work, Katherine empowers individuals to trust their intuition and instincts, fostering personal recovery while simultaneously supporting their babies in reaching key developmental milestones.
