Revisor Crystal Pite & Jonathon Young / Kidd Pivot

For their most recent collaboration, choreographer Crystal Pite and playwright Jonathon Young revise an archetypal comic plot to serve as the foundation for this production - Nikolai Gogol's The Government Inspector.

Blending traditional theatre and contemporary dance, they create an exhilarating hybrid performance that transcends both genres. Ten incredible dancers from Pite’s company Kidd Pivot embody the recorded dialogue of some of Canada's finest actors. Lip-syncing to the actors’ words in Pite’s trademark expressive style, they explore conflict, comedy and corruption in the potent relationship between language and the body.

Revisor reunites Pite and Young with director Jeff Tudor, who won the Rose d’Or (Arts) and Golden Prague Awards for his capture of Betroffenheit for the BBC. Revisor was recorded during its run at Sadler's Wells, London, in March 2020.
