Jazmin Chiodi announced as the new Artistic Director of Dublin Dance Festival

Dublin Dance Festival is delighted to announce the appointment of its next Artistic Director, Jazmin Chiodi. She will step into the role in August 2021, programming from 2022 – 2024 inclusive.

Born in Argentina and based in Ireland since 2005, Ms Chiodi is a dance artist and dance programmer. She joins Dublin Dance Festival after 12 years as Co-Director of Tipperary Dance Platform.

Jazmin Chiodi said, “I am delighted to join Dublin Dance Festival, an organisation which has been so important in strengthening the contemporary dance sector in Ireland. I will continue to present excellent international artists and will create opportunities to magnify and diversify the voice of Irish dance artists and choreographers at this unique time. I want to harness the power of dance to imagine new worlds, to offer fresh perspectives and to nourish change.”

Chairperson of the board, Brian Brady said, "On behalf of the Board of Dublin Dance Festival, I am excited that we have found in Jazmin a visionary and powerful dance champion. We are at a time of change in the performing arts all over the world; I know that Jazmin will forge a brilliant way forward, expanding and honouring the great work of her predecessors."

“This is an exciting time for Dublin Dance Festival when we are developing live and digital audiences and creating new opportunities for artists” said current Festival Artistic Director, Benjamin Perchet. “Jazmin is regarded with respect and affection by local and international arts colleagues. She brings fresh, interesting curatorial influences, an irresistible enthusiasm for dance and vital experience as a dance artist and choreographer.”

Ms Chiodi will be the fifth Artistic Director of Dublin Dance Festival, following in the footsteps of Catherine Nunes (2002, 2004, 2006 - when DDF was a biennial event) Laurie Uprichard (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011), Julia Carruthers (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015) and Benjamin Perchet (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021).
