It was a night filled with prosecco and the playful avant-garde for DDF Friends

The latest DDF Friends gathering was one to remember as we came together at Project Arts Centre during DDF2024 to experience the radical world of iconic French choreographer Olivier Dubois.
With a career that spans decades and a list of accolades that goes on and on, Olivier Dubois brought his outrageously entertaining piece, My Body of Coming Forth by Day, to Dublin as part of the 2024 Edition.
Starting the evening with a bottle of prosecco in the Project Bar before the show, DDF Friends were able to connect with fellow dance fans and share their DDF2024 experience so far and swap tips on what should be on the "not to be missed" list.
The theme of vibrant chit chat over a glass of prosecco continued as audience members arrived into the theatre space to a vivacious Dubois who sipped on a glass of bubbles, smoked his cigarette (not a real one, of course!), and chatted informally with the audience, getting everyone into the mood for what was to come.
And what was to come was a performance that ditches convention, inviting the audience to become co-creators as Dubois was cued by audience members to revisit and perform excerpts from his extensive performance and choreographic repertoire.
It was outrageous, hilarious, and awe-inspiring all at once as we were treated to memories of masterpieces and glimpses of Dubois's intensely creative mind and exceptionally skilful movement . Unconventional from the get-go, the performance (and evening) closed with everyone being invited onto the stage to shake off any remaining inhibitions and to dance out loud along with this icon of dance.
