#FestivalFlashback - Opening Performance No.3 - Les Ballets C. de La B.
After the success of Dublin Dance Festival in 2002 and 2004, it returned to Dublin's cultural heartland for a third time from April 21st to May 7th 2006!
Founding Artistic Director, Catherine Nunes, noted that the 2006 Festival Programme was arguably the most stimulating and eclectic one to date, opening with Les Ballets C. de la B. 'vsprs' by Alain Platel at the Abbey Theatre.
Mix 10 musicians from diverse backgrounds with 10 dancers and the result was a raw, haunting, multi-layered performance that thrived on contradictions and extremes!

"Music Director Fabrizio Cassol's score was superlative and implemented with discernment. It would be worth experiencing this extraordinary piece even for this alone" - Christine Madden, The Irish Times

"I was there for the opening night and it was one of the most profoundly moving evenings of theatre I have ever experienced" - William Crawley, BBC
13 years later, Les Ballets C. de la B. are continuing to impress and inspire as they tour their work throughout Belgium and across the globe.
See you next week for another #FestivalFlashback as we count down to the 15th opening night!
