DDF Blog: OFFSTAGE with the team behind CISEACH
On 17 April, just one day before the company set off on their national tour (18 April – 9 May), we stepped into their dress rehearsal. A moment where everything is in place, yet still charged with anticipation.
Across our Instagram Stories, the team shared more about the work, from the meaning behind the title to the music, the challenges, and what audiences can expect.
Head to our Instagram to rewatch our Ciseach Hightlight.
The word ciseach* itself holds duality: a kind of wildness, a mess but also a path. A structure laid across unstable ground to help us move forward. And that idea runs through the work.
* Ciseach (n.) shambles, mess; also a wattled walkway laid over a bog or soft ground to cross it.
This stirring new piece for six dancers and five musicians unfolds as an embodied manifesto, urging us to remember, to reconnect with our past, with nature, and with each other. Drawing on fragments of native wisdom, myth, and kinship, it looks to the body and the collective to carve out a way forward.
What we witnessed was the work just before it began its journey across the country. Now, catch it as part of DDF2026 for one night and one night only.
Huge thanks to the team for bringing us with them.
Ciseach: An Embodied Manifesto runs at the Pavilion Theatre on Thurs 7 May at 8PM.
