DDF and ESB have been shortlisted for the 2024 Business to Arts Awards

Dublin Dance Festival and ESB have been shortlisted for the Jim McNaughton/TileStyle Perpetual Award for Best Commissioning Practice.

Having been awarded the daa Arts Award for Bounce Club Night at the 2022 Business to Arts Awards, DDF is delighted to have partnered once again with ESB to commission and present Kindred, a digital dance installation exploring nature and human connection by celebrated Irish choreographer Liz Roche and Lightscape, award-winning specialists in projection and interaction design.

This free, public artwork was installed on LED screens in the courtyard of ESB’s new sustainable headquarters on Fitzwilliam Street from 19-28 May, during DDF's 2023 Edition. With an intimate sound score by Ray Harman & Brian Crosby, this unique combination of movement, film, technology, design, and sound created a dynamic and charged space where audiences, ESB employees and the local community could connect with nature as an intense force.

Kindred enabled ESB to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability leadership in an innovative, unexpected way.

Over 3,000 people experienced this free, public artwork during the 2023 Festival. The installation was also augmented by a programme of events, workshops and digital essays to engage and inspire ESB staff, stakeholders and the local community around the energy transition, sustainability and climate change.

Curated by Feimatta Conteh (Senior Manager in Environmental Responsibility at the Arts Council of England) and featuring leading voices in the Irish arts sector, the series of digital essays remains available to read and explore in the DDF Blog Collection: Sustainable Connections

In addition, ESB have been shortlisted for the Judges' Special Recognition Award, and we are in good company as one of their portfolio of partners, alongside National Concert Hall and Cork International Film Festival.

Huge congratulations to all the nominees across all categories!

The 2024 Business to Arts Awards will take place on Monday 9 September at the National Concert Hall.
