Festival Launch – March 2019
It was a chilly March evening, but inside the Dublin Bar Academy the atmosphere was warm and spirits high as we celebrated the launch of our full DDF2019 programme. Thanks to all those who joined us, and special thanks to Helen Meany (DDF Board Chair) and Fearghus Ó Conchúir who set the tone for an exciting 15th Edition with their warm welcome.
Opening Night – RIOT at Vicar Street
RIOT made a welcome return to Dublin after a knock-out international tour to open the 15th Edition of Dublin Dance Festival with a bang! The disorderly cocktail of bangin’ jigs, mind-blowing moves, jaw-droppingly sexy circus and gut-punching spoken word left audiences dazzled, dizzy and ready to change the world.
Princesses Can Be Pirates
The sun was out and Meeting House Square was abuzz as families streamed in to see the jam-packed performance of Princesses Can Be Pirates, a whimsical show that entertained the young, and not-so-young alike.
Top 8 Street Dance Battle
The Top 8 Street Dance Battle celebrated its 5th year in true street dance style with electric energy, pumping beats and jaw-dropping moves in Meeting House Square.
Bounce Club Night at the Button Factory
Bounce, a club night aimed at adults with intellectual disabilities brought its uplifting energy and message of inclusion to Dublin for the first time and the response was overwhelming!

In this live performance and digital exchange project, young women of colour came together to imagine a limitless world in a week-long creative bootcamp, mentored by a team of talented female artists.
