"Should you be stopped in your tracks by the sight of dancers performing beside [canals], rest assured. That’s the intention; [to] encourage passersby to pause, reflect and, perhaps, reimagine how they interact with the waterways."
The Irish Times
“I felt like I was in Paris or London, stumbling upon performances in the streets - I didn’t think that things like this happened in Dublin!”
Audience reaction
Fresh from her tour of the critically acclaimed MINSEACH, Sibéal Davitt is the commissioned artist and choreographer for Bench #3. An award-winning artist, Sibéal's work is influenced by contemporary, classical and Irish traditional sean-nós dance which she will bring to this innovative new commission.
A collaborative project between CoisCéim Dance Theatre in partnership with Waterways Ireland, Bench is a collection of artworks that celebrates everyday places as creative spaces. It encourages us to pause and be inspired by these feats of engineering through vibrant choreographic commissions and short live performances by distinctive local dance artists.
With free outdoor performances over two days, Bench #3 is an invitation to take a breath and discover dance.
