Lunchtime Talks

Join three Festival choreographers for a series of insightful and thought-provoking lunchtime talks.

Find out more about Oona Doherty's choreographic practice, her career, her inspiration and of course, her latest work Specky Clark which makes its Irish premiere on the Abbey stage as part of DDF’s 21st Edition (Thurs 15 May, 12:30pm at the Abbey Theatre).

Acclaimed for his iconic performances, innovative choreographic works, and esteemed leadership roles, including his current position as Director of Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, Boris Charmatz brings a wealth of experience and fresh perspectives to a candid public discussion on Fri 16 May, 12:30pm at Project Arts Centre.

Then, the dynamic dance artist and choreographer Qudus Onikeku shares insights into his experimentations with movement and kinesthetic memory, his artistic vision and his exploration into Yoruba artistic traditions (Wed 21 May, 12:30pm at the Abbey Theatre).

Somatic Workshops

Take a moment of pause to breathe and recharge with a nourishing 90-minute Yin Yoga practice with Paul Donnelly, deepening the grounding and connectedness between the mind, body and self. This calming and holistic practice will leave you with a sense of stillness, presence and shared experience (Sat 17 May, 10:30am at Project Arts Centre).

This workshop invites participants to take time out and to step into the studio to move. Influenced by somatic dance practices, the session will incorporate elements from varied techniques including shaking, yoga and tai chi (Wed 21 May, 3pm at DanceHouse).
