Through our DDF Artist in Residence programme, we will support Doherty to develop her choreographic practice, as she continues to build her young choreographic career.

Doherty’s distinctive and visceral choreography has sparked international attention, earning her multiple awards, rave reviews and prestigious artistic opportunities both in Ireland and abroad.

DDF has been working with Doherty over several years. First programmed with a work-in-development at DDF2015, she went on to present Hard to be Soft – A Belfast Prayer at DDF2018, commissioned by DDF, the Abbey Theatre and Belfast International Arts Festival. The piece went on to tour internationally to critical acclaim.

Doherty was programmed to present her latest work Lady Magma at Project Arts Centre as well as a curated programme of film work at the IFI as part of the 2020 Festival. Due to Covid-19, the 2020 Edition was cancelled, however Doherty was featured in the DDF Digital Capsule in a curated essay by Dr Aoife McGrath which examined Doherty's work, career and influences.
