'DANCER' & SATELLITE Q&A & PERFORMANCE BY SERGEI POLUNIN, Thurs 2nd March, Irish Film Institute

Are you a fan of ballet? If so, read on to hear about the Irish Film Institute's preview of 'Dancer'!

On 2 March, the Irish Film Institute (IFI) will present an exclusive preview of 'Dancer', a unique personal portrait of Sergei Polunin, the UK Royal Ballet’s youngest ever lead performer and star of Hozier’s 'Take Me to Church'. This will be followed by a live broadcast performance and Q&A by Sergei Polunin himself.

Sergei Polunin trained at the Kyiv State Choreographic School, before joining the Royal Ballet School aged 13 on a scholarship from the Rudolf Nureyev Foundation. He became a first soloist at the Royal Ballet in 2009 and was promoted to Principal in 2010, aged 19. At present he performs all over the world with leading ballet companies. He has starred in two music videos directed by David La Chapelle: 'There Must be More to Life Than This' and Hozier’s 'Take Me to Church' and 'Can I Make the Music Fly?', a short film directed by Bruce Weber for Dior.

'Dancer' features archive footage of Polunin training at the age of 4 to be an Olympic gymnast, intimate material shot by his parents and in-depth interviews with family, friends and colleagues, plus footage of Sergei’s life on and off stage. It promises to be a very special night!
