"The dancers are not men and women, but microcosms for humanity as a whole" - The Globe and Mail
The skin is the ultimate costume. Behind it lie muscles, water, energy, breath, desires, fears – the shadows of our souls. Through dance that is energetic and sometimes abrupt, Amour, acide et noix speaks of both solitude and our need for interaction. With no clothing to hide behind, human fragility is revealed - the tenderness of touch and the harshness of life become all the more immediate. Since its creation in 2001, Amour, acide et noix has toured extensively worldwide, and was presented in Cork in 2004. DDF is pleased to invite Daniel Léveillé Danse back to Ireland to perform this remarkable work, which marked a turning point in his creative direction.
Daniel Léveillé has a singular standing in Canadian dance, as both a choreographer and Professor of Dance. Amour, acide et noix received a Dora Mavor Moore Award for Outstanding Choreography in 2004 and the 2005 Public’s Award of the Croatian Institute for Movement and Dance.
