DDF offers a unique opportunity to hear renowned choreographer Lin Hwai-min discuss his choreographic work, which spans nearly 40 years, and his company, Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan, in this public interview. Founded in 1973, it was the first contemporary dance company established in any Chinese speaking community.
Lin Hwai-min often draws from traditional Asian culture for inspiration to create works with innovative forms and contemporary relevance. He has been honoured with numerous international awards, including the John D. Rockefeller 3rd Award, the Ramon Magsaysay Award, considered the “Nobel Prize of Asia,” the “Best Choreographer” at the Lyon Biennial Festival, and the “Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters” from the French Ministry of Culture. In 2009, he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Movimentos Dance Prize, Germany.
