"People often ask me, 'why bother volunteering? It takes up so much of your time, and you don't get anything for it.' But they couldn't be further from the truth. I don't volunteer because I think my time is worthless. I volunteer because my time is priceless. So often, the world of the creative arts relies on the tireless efforts of an all-volunteer force. As a creative person, I cannot think of a more worthy cause to give back to than my own community. No one can do everything, but everyone can do something, and when we all band together, something truly magical can happen." Chris Maynard – Festival Volunteer since 2011
Be part of the magic and join us as a volunteer for the 2017 edition of the Dublin Dance Festival from 18-28 May. Whether you're an avid dance enthusiast or a novice, a committed student or retired ballroom dancer, volunteering is one of the best ways to experience first hand what it takes to run an event of this scale, while also meeting artists and like-minded arts fans. Our volunteers are from all walks of life: from those who simply enjoy dance, to those who hope to pursue a career in the arts or event management.
"I started as a volunteer 7 years ago while I was at college. My background was Performance & Photography – 4 years ago I was asked to come on board with the festival – now I get to work closely with the festival team, artists and volunteers bringing Irelands leading Contemporary Dance Event to Dublin – but I still can’t dance to save my life!’ Paul Donnelly – Volunteers Coordinator & Former Volunteer
