OPEN CALL: Re-Presenting Ireland 2014

RE-PRESENTING IRELAND: A SHOWCASE INITIATIVE BY CULTURE IRELAND, DANCE IRELAND and DUBLIN DANCE FESTIVAL

STUDIO MIXED BILL AT DANCEHOUSE

Open Call Deadline: 12noon, Friday 10 January 2014

Dance Ireland in association with Dublin Dance Festival and Culture Ireland, invites proposals for consideration for Re-Presenting Ireland: a showcase initiative by Culture Ireland, Dance Ireland and Dublin Dance Festival.

Re-Presenting Ireland is a key opportunity for national and international programmers and audiences to experience some of the work currently being made in Ireland. It is our intention to curate one studio mixed bill of ‘works in various stages of development’ that are representative of current dance practice and of the very highest standards.

It is also a networking opportunity for national dance makers to present themselves to their international peers and press during the festival, with the attendant panel discussions and festival encounters.

For 2014 Re-Presenting Ireland will take the form of one studio mixed bill platform to be held over two weekends at DanceHouse during the 2014 Dublin Dance Festival (Fri 23, Sat 24 and Fri 30, Sat 31 May). This is an opportunity to present work in a studio-based showcase (up to a max length 15mins) with minimum set-up requirements. Please note, while there will be a small honorarium to cover expenses, no rehearsal or production costs are covered; applicants are responsible for the remounting of their work.

Assessment process and criteria:

  • All applicants must be Dance Ireland members;
  • Proposals will be considered by a peer panel, comprising Culture Ireland, Dance Ireland and Dublin Dance Festival and international colleagues;
  • Selection will be based on track record, suitability of the work and feasibility;
  • Selection will be made by the end of January 2014;
  • Successful applicants must attend a Re-Presenting Ireland briefing session in advance of the festival (date tbc);
  • Post show discussions; participating artists are requested to be available to attend post show discussions on Saturday 24 and 31 May.

How to apply:

Proposals should be submitted using the Re-Presenting Ireland application form, and must be accompanied by an online link (YouTube/Vimeo) to the material you wish to present at Re-Presenting Ireland.

Completed application form, with online link should be sent by email to judith.cooper@danceireland.ie before 12noon, Friday 10 January 2014. We cannot accept late applications. All applications will be acknowledged as they are received.
