Open Call: First Looks
Work-in-progress performances in a studio setting at DanceHouse during Dublin Dance Festival 2016

Dance Ireland, in association with Dublin Dance Festival and Culture Ireland invites proposals for consideration for First Looks - a platform for new work in development curated by Dance Ireland and Dublin Dance Festival.
First Looks is an opportunity for Irish and Irish-based choreographers to showcase their work-in-development. First Looks is an opportunity for national and international programmers and audiences to experience some of the work currently being made in Ireland. It is also a networking opportunity.
For 2016, First Looks will take place on the festival weekends, 20, 21 & 27, 28 May at DanceHouse. Each work (up to a max length 30min) will be individually presented, in a studio-based showcase with minimum set-up requirements, followed by a post-show discussion.
An honorarium to cover expenses, plus residency period and presentation (low technical) costs are covered.
Assessment process and criteria:
-All applicants must be Dance Ireland members;
- Proposals will be considered jointly by DI and DDF;
- Selection will be based on suitability of the work, feasibility and track record;
- Selection will be made by Friday 12 February.
Applicants must indicate their availability over the four dates of First Looks events. If selected, your performance date will be chosen for you in the context of the overall programme and your indicated availability.
How to apply
Proposals should be submitted using the First Looks Application Form, and accompanied by an online link (YouTube/Vimeo) to the material you wish to present at First Looks.
Completed application form, with online link should be sent by email to firstname.lastname@example.org before 12noon, Friday 5 February. All applications will be acknowledged as they are received.
