Check out this lovely 3 minute film compilation of responses from over 1500 people around the globe. 30 years on from the premiere of Rosas dances Rosas, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker set a challenge for anyone to dance the famous chair scene from her classic work - over 1500 people responded.
Watch this wonderful 3 minute compilation taken from over 10,000 hours of footage and 250 videos uploaded to www.rosasdanstrosas.be as part of the Re:Rosas Project!
More than 1500 people tried their hands (and feet) at the choreography - solo, in pairs and even in groups. The videos come from all over the world, from Ottawa and Bahia to Manila and Shanghai. All of them display enormous diversity and originality. There are clips with toddlers, children, mothers and all ages. The chair scene was recreated by animation designers, pole dancers, circus performers, majorettes, and Bollywood dancers.
The classic work will be performed at the Kaaitheater, on 8, 9, 10, and 12 October. On 8 and 12 October, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker herself will dance. The videos will be shown in the Kaaitheater at the same time on the Rosas dances Rosas video wall of fame. Due to its great success, initiators Rosas, fABULEUS, and Danspunt have decided to continue the project.
