GLOBAL PROJECT: DANCE! The NELKEN-Line comes to Ireland Jan-May 2017
(Pina Bausch Foundation)
Dublin Dance Festival is inviting everyone to dance one the most famous dance sequences ever created by iconic German choreographer Pina Bausch: the “Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter” line from her 1982 piece NELKEN, as part of a global project by the Pina Bausch Foundation and ARTE, the European culture channel.
Old and young, professionals and amateurs… everyone is welcome to DANCE! The NELKEN-Line. With just a few simple, repeated gestures, the “NELKEN-Line” describes the alternation of the four seasons, and is performed by dancers walking in a long queue to Louis Armstrong’s wonderful 1928 recording of West End Blues.
Dance with friends, family, colleagues, in a club, a youth group, your school class or even with total strangers. No dance experience necessary! You can do it anywhere: in your living room, on the beach, in a forest – surprise us! Then upload your video to the ARTE online platform.
